History of Meadowbrook Country Club
Meadowbrook Country Club was established and constructed in 1921. During this time, Palestine was a hub for the Missouri Pacific Railroad.
The country club was an integral part of the community and enjoyed many well known visitors. The original clubhouse burned down on Saturday, August 12, 1950. At the time, it was considered one of the finest structures in east Texas. A new clubhouse was designed and constructed as a single story structure in 1951. This was completed in 1952 and remained much the same until 1986 when the club underwent a renovation and expansion of the existing building.
In October, 2002, the property was purchased by private investors. The clubhouse was demolished in December, 2002 and construction began on a new cluhouse in January, 2004. On Thanksgiving day, 2004, the new clubhouse opened and once again Meadowbrook Country Club was back toto serve the citizens and the City of Palestine. This historic property has and will continue to be an integral part of the future and growth of our community.
